TRANSITIONS
GRACE WOOD + NINA GILBERT
Transitions is about the transient nature of time and the body. The work explores the feminine condition through contemplation, ritual, and metamorphosis.

Grace Wood focuses on transformation, alteration and change through necessity or choice - the way things may change or be forced to change according to pressure felt from societal or internal expectation. The work highlights ideas of normality in the domestic sphere, relational to the body, the object and the role of a female. It is about letting go, collapsing and refashioning.

Nina Gilbert’s work uses the symbolic nature of found objects in relation to the body, in order to explore themes dealing with time, memory and history.  The work engages ideas about mortality and the feminine through the ephemeral and material quality of these objects.
